Adjustment Counselor

Counseling services are available to all high school students and parents/caregivers to assist in educational, vocational, and personal/social/emotional concerns.  When a student exhibits more acute social, emotional, and behavioral needs, he/she may be referred to the School Adjustment Counselor for more intensive responsive services and support.  The School Adjustment Counselor may provide support to any student with or without a diagnosed disability that may be impacting his/her ability to access the curriculum, and wrap-around services are needed (home services; outside counseling, community resources, etc.).  This may include, but is not limited to: individual counseling meetings; crisis intervention, group counseling, referrals to Student Support Team as well as outside agencies and support services for students and families. The School Adjustment Counselor may provide services to students who cannot access mental health services outside of school.  The School Adjustment Counselor may provide additional consultation and support to students who have been hospitalized for a definite period of time.  This would include re-entry planning, and progress monitoring with student, family and staff.
